Workers continued strike Friday in a Honda parts supplier in south China's Guangdong Province as the second negotiation between the management and employees failed on the fifth day of the workers' striking for higher pay.

The talk between the management of the fully Japan-funded Atsumitec Auto Parts (Foshan) Co. Ltd. in Foshan City and 16 representatives of the striking workers started at about 2 p.m. but ended fruitless about 20 minutes later, said Liang Daixi, a worker who was present at the negotiation.

The management published a solution package at about 6 p.m. but workers said although it agreed to raise workers' wages, the increase did not meet their expectations. Workers said they would continue striking.

The management has declined to be interviewed.

The first talk between the two sides held on Thursday also failed to reach any agreement.

The management once declared it would fire 95 striking workers and asked them to move out of the factory dormitory but no such measures had been taken so far.

Police were stationed near the plant to guard against any emergencies.

The factory, located in Shishan Township of Nanhai District, belongs to Japan-based Atsumitec Co. Ltd. and has about 200 employees. It produces auto parts for Honda Motor Co. Ltd. as well as other companies.
