Beijing plans to install more surveillance cameras with sharper images by the end of this year, attempting to leave no place unwatched in the capital, the Legal Evening News reported.

The so-called "Video Beijing" security campaign, announced Thursday morning by the municipal committee on information infrastructure, aims to expand the city's surveillance network, beef up its mobile monitoring forces and ultimately wipe out any "dead area" unguarded in its "seamless coverage."

The network build-up, integrated throughout the city, will also employ intelligent technology that automatically analyzes video images to identify and alert potential dangers, the newspaper said.

Beijing will also set up an “Internet of Things” to strengthen its control on hazardous articles such as dangerous chemicals, toxic or harmful gases, liquefied gas tank as well as medical waste.
