Six bodies have been recovered as of Thursday from the debris of a landslide that buried 14 workers at a stone pit in southwest China's Sichuan Province last week.

Two bodies were found at 4 p.m. Thursday and four were recovered Monday, but eight were still buried, said Zhang Yili, vice mayor of Emeishan city where the accident happened.

About 250,000 cubic meters of rocks slid more than 20 meters down a hill behind the Shunjiang Quarry in Ledu Township, Emeishan City under Leshan City, on April 7.

The bodies found Thursday were those of a quarry manager and a truck driver, while three of the four bodies found earlier had been identified by relatives, Zhang said.

Life insurance companies, including Ping'an Insurance Company of China, would compensate the affected families.

"The rescue operation is still underway and we have sent condolences to the bereaved families," Zhang said.
