Other activities include putting up rhyming couplets, messages such as "Best Wishes" or "Happy Spring Festival", written in gold calligraphy brushstrokes on vertical red banners. Residents and visitors also enjoy lighting Kongming lanterns, performing dragon dance, strolling around fairs, tasting Huangqiao baked cakes and visiting Huangqiao Battle Memorial. Huang Yugang, a member of the memorial's staff, said "there were more than 2000 visitors to the memorial during this year's Spring Festival, a new record for this time of year."

Today, Huangqiao is no longer limited to a small town; it is undergoing urbanization. Tall buildings stand along the two sides of the streets which are crowded with people and vehicles. The serene lanes welcome swarms of visitors. Local 70-year-old Li said his family has been living at Lane Mi for generations. He was born in the year the Battle of Huangqiao took place. He has witnessed the great changes to the lane and the old town. One of his main impressions of this year's Spring festival is that "life is more comfortable and the sense of festivity is stronger."
