The Chinese mainland and Taiwan will jointly hold a seminar to discuss cross-Straits relations in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, from Oct. 24 to 28.

Under the theme of promoting industrial and economic cooperation, the seminar will invite business people and experts from the mainland and Taiwan to discuss an economic cooperative mechanism for the both sides.

It will be the first seminar held by the mainland-based Research Center for Cross-Straits Relations and the Taiwan-based "Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research."

Officials with the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office and the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee will also attend the seminar.
