China urges EU to lift arms embargo, recognizes MES

China urges the European Union (EU) to lift its arms embargo on China and recognize China's market economy status, calling on the EU to ease political obstacles in the two sides' bilateral relations.

The European Union's foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton thanked China for its "continued involvement" in European sovereign bond markets, saying the confidence displayed by Beijing gave countries room to carry out economic reform.
