Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei are jointly developing a hub for intelligent connected new energy vehicles (NEVs) to strengthen the supply chain and advance coordinated development of the NEV industry.

One of the key projects already in operation is an autonomous freight corridor connecting Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei. This route allows autonomous trucks, loaded at Beijing's Majuqiao Logistics Park, to transport goods across Hebei's Langfang and finally arrive at Tianjin Port, navigating complex traffic conditions from highways to city roads all without driver intervention.

The vision for the project, designed to encourage the idea of "building a vehicle together, creating a shared road, and cultivating a unified ecosystem," aligns with the coordinated and collaborative approach of the three regions. Together, Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei aim to transform the region into a major hub for intelligent connected NEVs.

"The three regions will work together to foster a supportive space for high-end component manufacturing, driving the NEV industry's deep integration and growth in northern China," an official of the Beijing Bureau of Economy and Information Technology said.

Covering 8,000 mu (533 hectares), the intelligent connected NEVs hub will feature one industrial park each in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei. The Beijing park, located in Shunyi district, spans approximately 167 hectares and is within an hour's drive of major production bases like BAIC, Mercedes-Benz, Li Auto, and Hyundai. Planned in three phases, the Beijing park will prioritize automotive electronics, intelligent systems, and quality upgrades. 

Moving forward, Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei will leverage their combined industrial strengths, improve the industrial ecosystem, attract leading NEV companies and component suppliers, and build an integrated and resilient supply chain across the region.
