Chinese shares closed lower in the morning session on Tuesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.13 percent, or 3.50 points, to 2,702.86 at midday.

The Shenzhen Component Index lost 49.29 points, or 0.43 percent, to 11,428.92.
