Chinese shares closed lower in the morning session Tuesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index declining 27.22 points, or 0.92 percent, to 2,937.73.

The Shenzhen Component Index fell 0.94 percent, or 117.91 points, to end the morning session at 12,390.10.
