UK Minister talks up China trade ties

UK Business and Enterprise Minister Mark Prisk met Chinese government officials in Beijing?yesterday and reaffirmed his government's commitment to building strong trade ties with China.? Video>>
"In Britain we acknowledge our historic partnership with China, and are keen to do more to ensure that this relationship continues to thrive. We have a strong partnership but can and should do more to build on this," Prisk said.
Prisk met Miao Wei, vice minister of industry and information technology, and Gao Hucheng minister of commerce, to discuss key bilateral trade policies.
The three ministers participated in a press conference organized by UK technology firm ARM and its Chinese business partner Nufront to launch their new energy-efficient computer chip, the NuSmart 2816.
"British business is already here in force and we are forging links in the supply chain in Chinese industry – for example in automotive, aerospace, ICT and chemicals. ARM and Nufront's success is a good example of how UK and Chinese companies can work together to compete on the international stage," Prisk said.
Prisk will also deliver a keynote address at a joint China-Britain Business Council and British Chamber of Commerce event, where he will re-affirm the UK government’s commitment to strengthening trade relations with China.
