Chinese equities close lower at midday Friday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 34.46 points, or 1.28 percent, to finish the morning session at 2,653.52 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index dropped 171.71 points or 1.52 percent to end at 11,149.45 points at midday.
