Chinese equities close lower at midday Thursday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 19.57 points, or 0.75 percent, to finish the morning session at 2,587.93.

The Shenzhen Component Index dropped 0.47 percent to end at 10,756.13 at midday.
