Chinese shares opened higher Tuesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rising 0.23 percent to 2,678.79 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index increased 0.31 percent to open at 11,039.37 points.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed at 2,672.52 points Monday, up 1.33 percent. The Shenzhen stock index rose 2.03 percent to end at 11,004.74 points.
