U.S.-based Control Components Inc. (CCI) has been accused by the U.S. Department of Justice of offering 236 corrupt payments overseas, over 60 of which were made to Chinese companies, Caixin Online reported Thursday.

The indictment lists more than 40 Chinese state-owned and private companies as potential bribe takers, including large centrally-owned SOEs such as PetroChina, CNOOC, China Nuclear Energy Industry Corp., China Guodian Corporation, Huaneng Power International and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation.

California-based CCI is a valve manufacturer. Last year, the company admitted to the US Department of Justice that from 2003 to 2007, it paid 236 bribes totaling 6.85 million US dollars to clients in 36 countries, including China.
