Hong Kong stocks added 10.68 points, or 0.05 percent to close at 21,207.55 Tuesday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index opened 43 points lower but soon rallied to the day high of 21,277.66 in the middle of the morning session. The market failed to sustain the growth and ended slightly above the previous closing.

Turnover shrank further to 58.49 billion HK dollars (about 7.53 billion HK dollars), from Monday's 64.33 billion HK dollars.
