Cathay Pacific boosts air services to Jeddah, Sapporo

Cathay Pacific Airways will increase the number of flights to the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah and the Japanese city of Sapporo in response to rising demand, the Hong Kong-based air carrier announced Monday.
The company will increase the number of flights to Jeddah, a major commercial city, from four times a week to one flight a day from March 28. The company already had a daily service to Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
It will also boost the service to Japan's northern city of Sapporo in July and August from four flights a week to seven in response to the demand for more flights as many tourists typically fly to north Japan during the summer holiday season.
"We are pleased to be able to boost our services to these two destinations, which will help in the further development of Hong Kong's position as one of the world's leading aviation hubs," said Ian Shiu, the company's director for corporate development.
