Chinese shares closed higher midday on Tuesday. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was up 0.13 percent, or 4.30 points, to close at 3,217.05 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index gained 0.06 percent, or 8.24 points, to close at 13,169.33 points.
