4. Where to paste upside down
A small-sized "blessing" character is usually pasted upside down on large water pots and trash bins. When the trash is emptied out, the character on the bins turns the right way up, which means that good fortune comes. In traditional Chinese culture, water represents wealth. If the character is pasted normally on water pots, it would be equivalent to pouring wealth out, which is why it should be pasted upside down. When the water is poured out, the direction of the blessing is reversed and good fortune comes.
