Famous crosstalk comedian Jiang Kun, who is also a political advisor, has suggested personality and moral education should be updated and systematized for the next generations.

"Currently in our primary and high schools, I think there's a lack of basic personality and quality education, which should be systematized and connected to Chinese traditional culture and Sinology" Jiang said in an interview with china.org.cn. He is attending the annual session of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in Beijing.

"The textbook of 'Ideology & Morality' is a little old and has fallen behind the times. I have suggested adding some fashionable and modern elements. Children’s education is very important. We have a great Chinese culture, and we should build a good environment helping children to shape their ideals, world view and core values at a very young age.

“This will help to avoid certain horrible things - such as the incidents of poisoning a classmate and other examples of school violence in recent years –continuing to happen in school yards and campuses in the future."

Jiang also worried about Chinese folk arts education and introduced a proposal to the top advisory body. "There's great lack of folk arts talent. Some folk arts even face extinction without the emergence of any artistic successors from time to time."

He suggested making traditional folk arts into a higher-education course and a category under the general coverage of arts, while setting special-designed majors in universities. Then more students will be able to learn to perform, create, manage, market and research the folk arts.
