Dance, music and sculpture will come together in the premier performance of "The Garden of Eden" Friday night at Bund 18.

The fusion of moving art and music with quiet art provides a pleasing and thought-provoking experience for the audience.

Internationally known dancer Li Lingxi will perform and Dutch-German visual artist Peter H. van de Locht will play the bass clarinet and exhibit a cluster of his installation art.

Born in 1975 in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, Li graduated from the Chinese People's Liberation Army Art College, majoring in ballet, classical Chinese and folk dance. In recent years she has been exploring the relationship between dance and other art.

In 2008, she directed and choreographed her first international project "Bach and Chinese Dragon," which premiered in Hanover, Germany. In 2010 Li performed in the Luxembourg Pavilion at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.

Van de Locht is a prominent sculptor who has created a number of granite, marble and bronze sculptures that are permanently exhibited in the Netherlands and Germany. The show will feature six sculptures that echo the energy radiating from Li's dance.

The sculptor intends to broaden his creations by a "dialogue" with other art forms. Dutch sculptor also intends to broaden his creation with the dialogue of other art forms.

In the 1970s, he studied sonology (study of sounds) in Utrecht of the Netherlands and started an experimental jazz band. But his main focus is sculpture, which he calls "the incarnation of grace within a perfect spatial order."

The show is presented by the Ailing Foundation, which was founded in 2010 to help disadvantaged children through education and medical care. It also helps children who are victims of family violence.

After the performance, the six sculptures will be auctioned off. All proceeds will be donated to the foundation.

Date: July 29

Venue: 18 Space, 3/F, 18 Zhongshan Rd E1
