Russian billionaire Viktor Vekselberg has filed charges at a British High Court against the world's leading auction house Christie's over a painting he bought earlier, reported RIA Novosti news agency on Monday.

Experts claimed the world-known "Odalisk" by Russia's outstanding artist Boris Kustodiev was a fake.

Vekselberg, who currently owns the Russian metal and mining conglomerate Renova Group, bought the painting five years ago reportedly for 2.9 million U.S. dollars.

He demanded his money back after experts made the claims. But so far Christie's auction house is still conducting its own investigation.

The painting was returned, but the investigation has not finished.

The 53-year-old Russian businessman is known for his passion for arts. In 2004 Vekselberg bought nine Faberge eggs from the Forbes collection for some 110 million dollars.
