The organizing committee of the 17th Beijing Student Film Festival has received more applications than ever, with 39 films being chosen for the event.

This year's film festival received applications for 155 films, with the number winning nomination increasing to 39 films. These films will be shown in 11 universities across China, including Beijing Normal University, the University of Science & Technology in Beijing, Sichuan University, Shanghai University and Wuhan University. The cast from some of the films plan to go and meet students from these universities. Awards including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress will be given by the judging committee formed from film experts and students.

The 39 nominated films include "Ip Man 2" and "Body Guards and Assassins" which won several Asian Film Awards at the Hong Kong International Film Festival on Mar. 23.
