"A Good Rain Knows," a romantic comedy directed by South Korean director Hur Jin-ho and set in Chengdu one year after the 2008 earthquake struck, will hit theaters on January 20.

The film tells a love story between a teacher in Chengdu and her old friend, a South Korean businessman. Mainland actress Gao Yuanyuan and South Korean actor Jung Woo-sung play the couple.

Hur is known for directing melancholy love stories such as Christmas in August and One Fine Spring Day, but says the new film will be a warm one to comfort those who survived the disaster. It is part of the two-film "Chengdu, I Love You" project. The other film is directed by rocker Cui Jian and Hong Kong veteran Fruit Chan.
