Disney on Ice comes to town with a new show, "Disneyland Adventure," running from January 20-25 at the Shanghai International Gymnastics Center.

The 10 lavish performances by professional skaters recreate scenes from the original Disneyland Park in California.

The cast features classic characters Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck, Pluto, Goofy and new characters, the Incredibles, seen for the first time on ice. There will also be Pirates of the Caribbean, Stitch the Bulldog and Buzz Lightyear.

The show last 105 minutes, with a 15-minute intermission.

Produced by Feld Entertainment, Disney on Ice has been presented in more than 40 countries and regions. This is its fifth year in Shanghai.

This year "Disneyland Adventure" tells a brand-new story set in Disney World. Mickey and his friends are having a party, but the wicked Maleficient puts Minnie and Donald Duck into a deep sleep. Mickey and his pals embark on an adventure to save them and the superhero family, the Incredibles, helps save the day.

It's a fun story for people of all ages.

"'Disneyland Adventure' will remind audiences of all the fun and unimaginable possibilities that Disneyland offers while capturing the escapades of Mickey and his friends," says producer Kenneth Feld. "Children and adults alike will find this ice adventure both familiar and unexpected at the same time."

Professional skaters, mostly Americans, will enact the story on the 1,000-square-meter ice rink.

The show features elaborate costumes, props and spectacular stage effects. Some scenes will be exactly like those in Disneyland Park.

Nineteen containers of costumes and props will be shipped to Shanghai.

The creative team is headed by Creative Director Jerry Bilik.

The show is directed by Patty Vincent, who herself skated for Disney On Ice for nine years. She is character development director for all touring Disney On Ice and Disney Live productions.

She directed two ice shows, "Finding Nemo" and "Princess Wishes."

The choreographer is Cindy Stuart, who has choreographed for Olympic silver medalist Rosalyn Sumners, the US national pairs champion Jenni Meno and Todd Sand, and world champion Chen Lu.

The lighting designer is Peter Morse who has worked with Madonna, Prince, Shania Twain, Destiny's Child and Backstreet Boys. He won an Emmy Award for his designs for Bette Midler's HBO Special, "Diva, Las Vegas."

"It's a great enjoyment to do something seeming impossible," says producer Kenneth Feld.

"I'm very confident that Shanghai audience will definitely feel happy and satisfied."
