About 3,000 forestry police and troops are struggling to control
forest fires raging at three regions in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regiion, according
to the regional fire-fighting office.
Four fires in forestry farms administered by the Ganhe Forestry
Bureau in the north of the region have been contained, said a
source with the Inner Mongolia Fire Fighting Office.
More than 1,500 policemen are still working to prevent the fires
flaring up again, the source said.
In Genhe area, one fire has been put out and 850 police and
soldiers are struggling to tame another in a forestry farm under
the Genhe Forestry Bureau.
Meanwhile, almost 600 people are fighting a forest blaze in
Keyihe region.
The fires occurred at the northern part of the Greater Hinggan
Mountain, a major timber production area with large forests.
