Chinese Dolphin Numbers Rising, to Qinzhou's Joy
Adjust font size:

More than 60,000 foreign and domestic tourists were attracted to Sanniang Bay to see Chinese dolphins in the city of Qinzhou, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on the first four days of the Lunar New Year.

The local government's efforts to protect the ocean environment have paid off as the number of dolphins has increased in the city's waters.

The dolphin, also known as "the marine giant panda", was becoming extinct because of worsening environmental conditions.

The rare species is under strict State protection.
