Beijing's cultural and tourism market recorded robust growth during the eight-day National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, receiving over 25 million visitors and generating tourism revenue of 31.65 billion yuan ($4.45 billion), up 3.6% and 4.7% year on year, respectively, according to the city's culture and tourism authority.
The city organized more than 4,200 cultural and tourism events and launched nearly 100 themed travel routes during the holiday. Popular sites like Beijing Universal Resort, the Palace Museum, and the Mutianyu and Badaling sections of the Great Wall enhanced visitor experiences with new technology.
The city also hosted 2,497 commercial performances, with high-quality productions driving a 118% year-on-year increase in box office revenue. Outdoor concerts flourished as music and opera expanded into shopping districts and parks.
Beijing welcomed 119,000 overseas visitors during the holiday, up 48% from last year, who spent 1.23 billion yuan, up 54.1%. Tax-free shopping sales more than doubled to exceed 22 million yuan.
The eight-day holiday highlighted Beijing's appeal as a world-class travel destination and reflected the vitality and innovation in the capital's cultural and tourism industries.
