A 500kV transmission and substation project in Chifeng, northern China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, was put into full operation Monday, as its two 500kV transmission lines began to deliver electricity.
With a total investment of 559 million yuan ($78.44 million), the project is the first of its kind managed by State Grid Chifeng Power Supply Company, marking a milestone in the grid construction in Chifeng.
Adopting innovative and high-level construction standards, the grid project will deliver approximately 10 billion kWh annually to the Chifeng East Mountain Industrial Park, enough to power 4 million households. This amount can replace 3.3 million metric tons of coal consumption, equivalent to a reduction of about 7.8 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions. The new additions are expected to significantly strengthen power supplies in southern Chifeng.
