On Aug. 8, the Shenzhen Dongmen Chamber of Commerce and the Industrial and Commercial Federation of Islands of Macao (ICFIM) signed a friendly cooperation framework agreement in Macao, officially establishing a partnership. This marks Dongmen Old Street's second collaboration with a well-known commercial street in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), following its partnership with Hong Kong's Temple Street last year.
In recent years, cross-city and cross-border consumption — whether traveling north for food and entertainment or south for exhibitions and "city walks" — has become increasingly common in the GBA. Luohu district has been leveraging its unique strengths as a traditional trade hub, a major consumption area, and a port district. By focusing on the development of five distinctive commercial districts, the district has continued to promote the revitalization of business areas, upgrade business formats, foster new types of consumption, and accelerate the transformation of its commerce sector.
Ruan Ruohua, chairman of the ICFIM, said he was deeply impressed during his visit to Shenzhen by Dongmen Old Street's innovative approach of preserving traditional charm while integrating modern commercial elements. "This signing is not just about two documents; it represents a solemn commitment for the business communities of both sides to work hand in hand for mutual development," Ruan said. "It marks the beginning of a new and closer phase of cooperation between Macao and Shenzhen, especially between the Macao communities and the Dongmen business district."
Looking ahead, Dongmen Old Street in Shenzhen, Temple Street in Hong Kong, and Rua do Cunha in Macao will jointly host a Mid-Autumn Food and Culture Carnival in September. The event will feature cuisine, folk traditions, and art, aiming to create an internationally influential cultural exchange brand under the banner of the "Greater Bay Area Mid-Autumn Food Carnival."
