China claimed a 3-1 victory over Argentina in the classification round for 5th-8th place at the 2025 FIVB Women's U21 World Championship on Saturday, advancing to the 5th-place playoff.
Statistically, the two sides were evenly matched in attacking points, but China established a clear edge in blocking and serving, recording 18 blocks and 8 aces, compared with Argentina's 12 and 2. China sealed the match with set scores of 25-12, 22-25, 25-21, and 25-22.
In the other 5th-8th classification match, Poland edged Turkey 3-2. China will now face Poland on Sunday for the 5th place, while Argentina will meet Turkey in the contest for 7th.
Meanwhile, the semifinals produced two straight-set victories. Italy swept Brazil 3-0, and Japan overpowered Bulgaria by the same score. Italy and Japan will meet in the championship final on Sunday, while Brazil and Bulgaria will play for the bronze medal.
