Editor's note: A community development project, with support from Jiangxi province, has improved living conditions for more than 6,600 residents in China's remote Pamir Plateau region.
Kunlun Jiayuan community in Akto county, Kizilsu Kirgiz autonomous prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, now houses the residents with modern amenities in an area characterized by extreme temperatures and high elevation.
The community is home to 6,640 residents and is divided into four zones: housing, farming, livestock breeding and supporting facilities. The residential area has 68 apartment buildings, while the farming zone contains 1,712 greenhouses. The livestock breeding zone includes two standardized livestock facilities covering 4,000 square meters, and supporting facilities include a kindergarten, primary school, health service center and shops. The community is fully equipped with water, electricity, gas, heating and internet access, ensuring a comfortable and modern standard of living.
