In the first seven months of 2025, Beijing recorded 168 days of good air quality, 18 days more than the same period last year, the Beijing Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau said Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the city registered an average PM2.5 density of 26.9 micrograms per cubic meter, 19% lower year on year.
The capital has accelerated the adoption of new energy vehicles (NEVs) this year and expanded preferential road access for NEV container trucks. The city also promoted clean machinery, with 39.5% of them powered by new energy.
Green manufacturing is also advancing. From January to July, the city added 669 green enterprises, bringing the portion of green enterprises among all businesses to 28.5%.
Furthermore, Beijing has ramped up efforts to cut volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, control road dust, upgrade construction site practices, and curb restaurant fume pollution.
Beijing plans to continue phasing out old vehicles and machinery, expand NEV use, and intensify summer VOC controls to consolidate gains in air quality.
