Shanghai Shenhua kept first place in the Chinese Super League (CSL) despite a 2-1 home loss to city rivals Shanghai Port on Saturday.
Shenhua was stymied by a strong showing from Port goalkeeper Yan Junling, who made several important saves. Brazilians Gabrielzinho and Leonardo scored for Port, with Chen Jinyi getting Shenhua's only goal.
The result leaves Shenhua leading with 45 points, with Port now just one point behind.
On Sunday, Beijing Guoan staged a 4-3 comeback win over Zhejiang after having trailed 3-1.
Cao Yongjing began the recovery before Zhejiang's Cheng Jin received a straight red card for a stamp. Fabio Abreu and Wang Ziming then completed the turnaround for Guoan.
In relegation battles, Meizhou Hakka climbed out of the drop zone with a 2-1 victory over Wuhan Three Towns.
