The Communist Party of China (CPC) has earmarked membership fees totaling 32 million yuan (about 4.5 million U.S. dollars) for flood control and disaster relief in the provincial regions of Gansu and Guangxi.

Membership fees are collected and administered by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee on behalf of the CPC Central Committee.

The department has called for the swift disbursement of the funds to support Party members, officials and residents on the front line of flood control and relief work, as well as those in difficulty due to natural disasters, and for the repair of educational facilities for Party members.

It has urged regional authorities to make every effort to search for and rescue those who are missing, to evacuate and resettle those affected, and to minimize casualties.

Officials have been called on to strengthen risk forecasts and early warnings, ramp up efforts to identify and address vulnerabilities, and reinforce emergency duty and on-site monitoring.

Torrential rains battered northwest China's Gansu Province from Thursday to Friday, triggering mountain torrents that had left 13 dead and 30 missing as of noon Saturday.

From Tuesday to Wednesday, regions in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region experienced moderate to heavy rains, with some areas seeing torrential downpours or extreme rainfall.
