Robot Mall, the world's first embodied intelligent robot dealership, will open in Beijing on Friday.

The store models after a traditional car dealership, offering the core "4S" services of initial sales, spare parts and maintenance, aftersales services, and survey and feedback. Located in the robotics industrial park in Beijing E-Town, the four-story, 4,000-square-meter facility showcases over 50 robots across seven categories, including medical, industrial, and wheeled humanoid robots. These robots will include Tiangong from the Beijing Innovation Center of Humanoid Robotics, Unitree G1, and UBTECH Humanoid Robot Walker S.

On the first floor, visitors will find a live demo zone featuring industrial and medical robots. A troupe of robot dogs dressed in colorful outfits performs lion dances to music. The second floor invites interaction, with futuristic technologies like brain-computer interfaces and robotic arms.

The third floor offers a look at intelligent maintenance, displaying how robots are repaired, diagnosed, and remotely serviced. The top floor is a space aimed at connecting industry partners and fostering collaboration.

According to store manager Wang Yifan, over 40 manufacturers will offer products at the Robot Mall, including more than 30 from beyond Beijing. Wang also said that a more advanced 2.0 version of the mall, with expanded application scenarios and more robots, is expected to debut in November.

Yet there is one key difference between the Robot Mall and a car dealership: affordability. Some of the humanoid robots on display are priced at several hundred thousand yuan, with high-end models exceeding 1 million yuan ($139,214). For example, UBTECH's Walker S sells for 972,000 yuan. The Walker S1 with a delivery vehicle setup has a price tag of over 2 million yuan.

Ma Ning, deputy director of the department in charge of robotics and intelligent manufacturing of Beijing E-Town, explained that the high prices are mainly due to the lack of mass production. She said that while China has an advantage in producing robot components, humanoid robots have yet to enter large-scale manufacturing, which keeps costs elevated.

To tackle this, E-Town has built the city's first agile manufacturing platform for humanoid robots, helping companies ramp up flexible, rapid production. Plans are also underway to build pilot plants and a responsive supply chain hub, bringing components together and streamlining the full process from design to mass production, ultimately driving down costs.

"2025 marks the first year of large-scale humanoid robot production," said Wang. "With production lines under construction and orders growing, we expect prices to gradually fall."

Right next to the Robot Mall, a robot-themed restaurant will also open on the same day. The venue features more than 20 robots and serves as a testing ground for real-world applications. "Customers can already book tables through Dianping or Meituan," said restaurant manager Sun Ling.
