An exhibition featuring 100 precious items of treasure from
ancient India will begin at the Capital Museum in downtown Beijing
on Wednesday.
Entitled "Treasures of Ancient India," the exhibition is one of
the important cultural events planned for the Year of Sino-Indian
Friendship.
Sponsored by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage and
the Indian Bureau of Archaeology, the exhibition will be the
largest of its kind ever held in China.
Most of the exhibits are works of carving dating back to the 3rd
century before Christ through to the 18th century, according to a
Capital Museum spokesman.
The exhibition will stay in Beijing for two months and move on
to Zhengzhou, capital of Henan Province, Chongqing City, and
Guangzhou City of Guangdong Province. It will close next
October.
